The World's Bank Branches Are Decreasing
The number of bank branches around the world is decreasing. Financial services are rapidly transforming digitally and banking business models are shifting. The rise of emerging fintech that do not require stores is also having an impact.
Data collected by the International Monetary Fund on commercial banks shows that in about 100 countries, the number of bank branches has decreased by 14% in the last 10 years. In Europe, the United States and South Korea, the trend of bank branch reduction has gradually accelerated.
