Renovation Project of FAW-Volkswagen's Tianjin Branch Begins
On February 21, FAW-Volkswagen Tianjin Branch held a groundbreaking ceremony for the technical renovation project of new models at FAW-Volkswagen North China Base in TEDA. The renovation project, with a total investment of more than 2 billion yuan, will expand the company's Tianjin Plant, mainly adding press tools, automatic door seal rolling machines, electric inspection and charging equipments, etc. The new plant is expected to be completed by the end of October 2023. Through renovation, FAW-Volkswagen Tianjin Branch will be ready for the production of the subsequent generation of vehicle models.
After five years of development since its first vehicle rolled off the production line in June 2018, FAW-Volkswagen Tianjin Branch has now grown into a regional manufacturing benchmark with strong product competitiveness, high economic contribution, great regional influence and important strategic status. Up to now, the FAW-Volkswagen North China Base has manufactured more than 900,000 vehicles in total. The base is not only an important pillar of Volkswagen’s strategy in China, but also builds up momentum for the upgrading of the automotive industry in TEDA.
