Weekly Capital Market Report
In the third week of February 2023 trading on the capital market we take a look at how the equity market performed against the bond market. During the week the bond market recorded a 100% score. In comparison to the third which was the complete opposite as it was the equity market that recorded a 100% score. There was not much bond trading activity around this time last year.
Equity Market
In the week ended 17th February 2023, a total of 94,154 shares were transacted in 244 trades, yielding a market turnover of K323,243.68. Trading activity was recorded in BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO ZAMBIA, COPPERBELT ENERGY CORPORATION ZAMBIA, CHILANGA CEMENT, MADISON FINANCIAL SERVICES, PUMA ENERGY, ZAMBIAN BREWERIES, ZAMBEEF, ZANACO, ZAMBIA SUGAR as well as CEC AFRICA on the quoted tier. The LuSE All Share Index (LASI) closed at 7,211.56 points. The market closed on a capitalization of K72,322,288,550.14 including Shoprite Holdings and K37,539,603,110.14 excluding Shoprite Holdings.
Bond Market
Bonds of total face value of K698,129,000 were transacted in 55 trades, resulting in a market value sales of K494,058,120.
