Macao and Hengqin seek business opportunities in Indonesia
From March 12 to 14, a Macao and Hengqin joint investment promotion delegation made its first stop in Jakarta, Indonesia, to launch a series of investment promotion activities.
The Macao-Hengqin Investment Promotion Conference 2023 attracted about 100 Indonesian representatives from the political, industrial, academic and R&D circles, with two cooperationprojects signed on the spot.
The organizers introduced the preferential policies and business environment of Macao and Hengqin to Indonesian entrepreneurs.
Fu Yongge, deputy directorof the Executive Committee of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, briefed on the open investment environment under the integrated development of Hengqin and Macao, saying the two neighbouring places are jointly building a new industrial development mode through Macao platforms, international resources, Hengqin space, and outcome sharing.
Yu Yusheng, Chairman of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) introduced the development strategy, platform advantages and policy support of Macao.
According to the introductions, there's a huge space for Macao and Hengqin to cooperate with Indonesia in terms of Sci-tech R&D, bio-medicine, culture, tourism, trade, modern financing, and the digital economy.
The Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, the Directorate General of National Export Development (DGNED) of the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesian Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Sinar Mas Group, one of the largest conglomerates in Indonesia, also attended the event.
The open investment environment and unique development mode were well-received by Indonesian entrepreneurs. Some expressed their willingness to visit Macao and Hengqin soon.
Next, the delegation will go to Singapore and Malaysia. Through the promotion conference, business match-making, and local visits, it aims to promote the bilateral trade and investment cooperation between Macao, Hengqin, and countries along the route of the "Belt and Road" Initiative.
