Guangdong issues taxation guides for investment in Portuguese-speaking countries
The Taxation Guidelines for Investment in Portuguese-speaking Countries and Regions (taxation guidelines) compiled by the Tax Cooperation Office for Portuguese-speaking Countries and Regions (Portuguese Office) includes Taxation Guidelines for Chinese Residents Investing in Portugal, Taxation Guidelines for Chinese Residents Investing in Mozambique, and Taxation Guidelines for Chinese Residents Investing in Cape Verde. Country profiles, investment climates, tax policies, tax collection and management systems, tax agreements, and the mutual consultation procedures of Portugal, Mozambique, and Cape Verde comprise the bulk of its contents.
Yuan Hongbing, Director of the Tax Service of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, State Administration of Taxation stated, "The Taxation Guidelineselaborate on and interpret the tax systems of Portugal and other Portuguese-speaking countries, while comprehensively covering various taxation issues that need to be noted in investment and business operations within these countries. This is necessary in order to help taxpayers understand the associated requirements and risks, effectively prevent and manage overseas investments tax risks, and provide references and guidance for companies that go global."

Xie Zhi, the Finance Director of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Cooperation between Guangdong and Macao noted that as of now, nine products of the companies in the industrial park have been registered in Mozambique, and seven products have obtained registration and listing licenses for Chinese patent medicines in Brazil.
Recent reporting has indicated that in an effort to strengthen taxation ties with Portuguese-speaking countries and regions, in April 2022, the State Administration of Taxation had approved the establishment of the first state tax cooperation office for Portuguese-speaking countries and regions in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. This has given China-Portugal economic and trade cooperation a greater boost.
