China's regional foreign trade statistics in Jan.-April
Zhejiang
The foreign trade of east China's Zhejiang Province rose 8.3 percent year on year to 1.56 trillion yuan (about 225 billion U.S. dollars) in the first four months of this year, according to Hangzhou Customs.
Of the total, exports exceeded one trillion yuan, up 9.8 percent year on year, while imports grew by 4 percent to 400.98 billion yuan.
From January to April, Zhejiang's foreign trade with the emerging markets of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa, registered an increase of 17.7 percent, 12.8 percent, 17.4 percent and 30.8 percent, respectively, accounting for 43.6 percent of the province's total.
Meanwhile, the province's trade with countries along the Belt and Road and other members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership rose by 17.6 percent and 9.9 percent, respectively.
During the period, mechanical and electrical products made a contribution of 45.5 percent to Zhejiang's total exports. Its imports of energy products, including crude oil, coal and natural gas, surged 14.5 percent.
Inner Mongolia
North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region saw robust foreign trade growth in the first four months of 2023, according to the customs authorities in Hohhot, capital city of the region.
The region's total import and export value hit 60.77 billion yuan (about 8.73 billion U.S. dollars) from January to April, up 45.1 percent year on year.
Exports rose 26.6 percent to 23.38 billion yuan, while imports soared 59.6 percent to 37.39 billion yuan.
The region's private enterprises also saw rapid growth in foreign trade volume, increasing by 67.9 percent year on year during the period to 47.29 billion yuan.
The Erenhot Port, the largest land port between China and Mongolia, has made great contribution to the region's foreign trade. As of May 3, the port had handled a total of 1,042 China-Europe freight trains, up 7 percent year on year.
Hunan
Central China's Hunan Province saw robust growth in its foreign trade in the first four months of 2023, according to the customs of Changsha, the provincial capital.
The foreign trade value reached 243.65 billion yuan (about 35 billion U.S. dollars) in the province from January to April, up 49.6 percent year on year, Changsha Customs said Sunday.
It added that the export value increased by 58.7 percent year on year to 172.93 billion yuan, while the import rose 31.1 percent year on year to 70.71 billion yuan.
In that period, the province's trade value with its major trading partners -- the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the United States and the European Union -- reached 53.78 billion yuan, 25.52 billion yuan and 20.66 billion yuan, respectively.
Hunan's trade value with countries along the Belt and Road totaled 97.31 billion yuan, up 76.2 percent, accounting for 69 percent of the province's total foreign trade value, while its trade with the other members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership during the period totaled 79.64 billion yuan, an increase of 43.9 percent year on year.
