Workshop on Low Carbon Transition and Green & Sustainable Finance
On April 10, the “Workshop on Low Carbon Transition and Green & Sustainable Finance—Advancing Implementation of the 2030 Agenda and Paris Agreement in China and Beyond- including in the Belt and Road” was held in Quanzhou City, Fujian Province. Mr. Gao Jian, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Ms. BeateTrankmann, UNDP Resident Representative in China, Mr. Liu Linsheng, member of CPC Standing Committee of Quanzhou Municipal Committee and the Vice Mayor, Mr. Gao Xianchun, Deputy General Manager of the Department of Planning and Research of China Development Bank (CDB), Mr. Chang Hao, Deputy Director General of International Cooperation Center (ICC) of NDRC, Mr. Wu Wei, Secretary General of Beijing Tanato Foundation, etc. attended the opening ceremony.
The workshop was guided by NDRC, CDB and UNDP, co-organized by the UNDP China, Innovation and Development Center for Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and ICC of NDRC, with the support of Beijing Tanato Foundation and the World Resources Institute. The three-day workshop aimed to share the best practices of global green and low-carbon development and sustainable finance, in order to actively align with the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and help China to achieve its carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals and green and low-carbon transformation along the “Belt and Road".
The workshop gathered experts and scholars from the UNDP, World Resources Institute, relevant departments of NDRC, and the Policy Research Center for Environment and Economy of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, with 30 students from NDRC, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce, National Energy Administration, and local development and reform commissions from Shandong, Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang provinces and the CDB.
