CDB sets up special loans to support China Central Asia cooperation
The first China Central Asia Summit was successfully held from May 18th to 19th in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. In order to help deepen China Central Asia cooperation and enhance the development capacity of Central Asian countries, the CDB has established a special loan equivalent to 10 billion yuan for China Central Asia cooperation, to support domestic and foreign project cooperation between China and the five Central Asian countries in areas such as economy and trade, investment, transportation, agriculture, energy resources, infrastructure, etc.
During the summit, CDB was invited to participate in activities such as the Kazakhstan China Investment Roundtable, the Uzbekistan President and Chinese company and financial institution heads roundtable, and held high-level meetings with Kazakhstan's Baydelek Company, Kazakhstan Development Bank, and Uzbekistan Foreign Economic Bank. CDB also signed two loan agreements and two cooperation documents with Kazakhstan Development Bank, Uzbekistan Foreign Economic Bank, and Tajikistan Savings Bank, respectively, Covering project cooperation in fields such as small and medium-sized enterprises, agriculture, production capacity cooperation, and social livelihood.
Central Asia is the first place to jointly build the "the Belt and Road" initiative, and is also one of the regions where CDB first started international business. For a long time, CDB, together with clients from Central Asian countries, has adhered to the principle of mutual consultation, joint construction and sharing, worked together for common development, served to build a closer China Central Asia community of shared future, helped build the "the Belt and Road" in Central Asia, and brought tangible benefits to people in the region.
As of the end of 2022, CDB has supported 134 projects in the fields of energy resources, infrastructure, transportation, electricity, chemical industry, telecommunications, finance, agriculture, small and medium-sized enterprises in the five Central Asian countries, including the A/B and C lines of the Central Asian natural gas pipeline, the first and second phases of the South Yolotan gas field development in Turkmenistan, and the 500000 ton annual polypropylene project of Kazakhstan Petrochemical Company (KPI) The Uzbekistan bus procurement project and other major projects have provided support, effectively promoting the deepening of economic and trade cooperation between China and relevant countries, as well as the development of key industries in partner countries. At the same time, the Development Bank and Central Asian financial institutions have carried out loan transfer cooperation, focusing on supporting the "small and beautiful" projects in the fields of agriculture and small and medium-sized enterprises with good economic and social benefits in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and other countries, actively helping to enhance the well-being of the cooperating citizens and serving to achieve mutual understanding among the people.
