Monitoring businesses: Business Climate Index stays close to ten-year high
In May, the Bank of Russia’s Business Climate Index declined to 7.9 points, though remaining close to its highest levels seen in the recent decade. Current output and demand estimates are below the April figures.
Decline in businesses’ expectations was mainly observed in the industries facing export restrictions or subdued consumer activity. Investment goods producers were still the most optimistic of all businesses.
In May, businesses’ price expectations dropped following their upward movement over the two previous months.
