HSBC: China is the core of global economic restart
Greg Guyett, CEO of HSBC Global Banking and Capital Markets, recently attended the 10th HSBC China Symposium held in Shenzhen, Guangdong. In his opening speech, he stated that 2023 is a year of comprehensive global economic restart, and China is at the core of growth.
In addition to the vibrant vitality of Chinese enterprises, the government's visionary planning, policies, and investment are also key drivers of sustained economic growth in China. HSBC has recently raised its expected growth rate for the Chinese economy in 2023 from 5.6% to 6.3%
With the resumption of personnel exchanges between China and overseas, the HSBC China seminar this year attracted over 1200 representatives from 24 countries and regions around the world to participate. Hundreds of HSBC executives, economists, and guests from all walks of life gathered in Shenzhen to have in-depth exchanges on investing in China and seizing China's growth opportunities over a two-day period, helping overseas investors better expand their business in China.
During the seminar, Gao Guoyang also received an exclusive interview with well-known financial media in mainland China, sharing his insights on the trends of overseas enterprises and institutions investing in the Chinese market and the opportunities for China's outbound investment. He said that China still has great appeal to overseas investors, especially in areas such as technological innovation, manufacturing, and consumer goods.
He also mentioned the enormous opportunities in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and believed that the coordinated efforts of the three governments in terms of regulations and policies will further unleash the potential of the Greater Bay Area as a global center for innovation, commerce, wealth, and investment.
