London Stock Exchange celebrates Fresnillo plc's 15th listing anniversary
Fresnillo plc, the world’s largest silver producer and Mexico’s largest gold producer, today opened the Markets of the London Stock Exchange to celebrate 15 years as a London-listed company.
As the first Mexican company to list in London, the IPO represented a pioneering step by an ambitious business pursuing a strategy of sustainable long-term growth. On its admission to the Main Market, Fresnillo joined the FTSE 100 index, where it has remained.
Fresnillo describes its purpose as “contributing to the wellbeing of people through the sustainable mining of silver and gold”. Key to the continued success of the Group has been its commitment to the local communities in which it operates, which was given even greater significance during the challenges presented by the pandemic, where large scale businesses often in remote locations played such a vital role in terms of both education and the vaccine roll-out, thereby supporting Mexico's longer term recovery.
Since first listing, Fresnillo has maintained its position as the world's leading silver producer and one of Mexico’s largest producers of gold. Notably, from operating three mines in 2008, Fresnillo now operates eight mines, including the large scale Juanicipio silver project launched last year, highlighting its track record of continually investing in its assets.
Over the past 15 years, Fresnillo has returned well over US$3 billion in dividends to shareholders.
Fresnillo has set out its pride at representing Mexico on the London Stock Exchange. It benefits from a consistent strategy, high quality assets and a lengthy growth pipeline, putting it in a strong position to continue delivering value for shareholders long into the future.
