The Hungarian railway project from Shoroksar to Klebio, supported by financing from the Export Import Bank, has fully entered the track laying construction phase
On May 30th, the construction section of the Hungarian Shoroksar to Klebio section of the Hungarian railway project funded by the Export Import Bank officially started track laying work, marking the full entry of the project into the track laying construction phase.
The Hungarian Serbian Railway runs from Budapest, the capital of Hungary, to Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, with a total length of approximately 350 kilometers and a designed maximum speed of 200 kilometers per hour. After the project is completed and opened to traffic, the operation time between the two places will be shortened from the current 8 hours to less than 3 hours, significantly improving the local traffic level, driving local economic development, and promoting the construction of transport infrastructure in Central and Eastern Europe. At the same time, the Hungarian Cypriot railway is a landmark and demonstration project of the the Belt and Road" initiative and China CEEC cooperation, which is of great significance in promoting the docking of China's railway technology and equipment with the EU's railway interconnection norms and deepening China EU mutually beneficial cooperation.
The Export-Import Bank attaches great importance to the financing cooperation of the Hungarian Serbian railway project, providing financial support for the Serbian section project and the Hungarian section project, effectively ensuring the construction and implementation of the project. At present, the Belgrade Novisad section in Serbia, as a pilot section, was completed and opened to traffic in March 2022, with good operation.
