School of Finance, Nankai University: Lecture 10 of the Open Class for Alumni Talks about the "Century-Old Store" of Insurance and the Sustainable Future of Humanity

On May 7, the tenth lecture of the course "Professional Learning and Career Planning" this semester was held in the lecture hall 336 of the School of Finance. Chen Songlin, a 1989 alumnus of Nankai University, a member of the executive team of Lloyd's Insurance (China) Co., Ltd. and general manager of Beijing Branch, was invited to give a lecture. The course was hosted by Du Yujin, deputy secretary of the party committee and deputy dean of the School of Finance.
Chen Songlin first introduced the historical origin of Lloyd's, and briefly described the innovation of Lloyd's in the development history, from the aspects of Lloyd's association and market structure, business composition and characteristics, capital structure and safety chain advantages, and market supervision. The operation mode of Lloyd's was introduced in detail, and the future development strategy of Lloyd's focusing on innovation was shown to the students.
Later, Chen Songlin introduced to the students the role of insurance in the process of sustainable human development, focusing on the role and challenges of insurance in green buildings, green transportation, green energy and other fields. In terms of career planning, Chen Songlin suggested that students lay a solid foundation of knowledge during college, get in touch with the society more, and master the methodology of doing things. He hopes that the students will be down-to-earth, keep curiosity, be a person beforehand, maintain insight and the ability to learn continuously.
In the course summary, Du Yujin pointed out that Lloyd's is the epitome of the insurance industry, and hoped that students would broaden their career horizons through the sharing of alumni. He encouraged students to expand the scope of information search and cognition, and constantly find their own suitable position in the industry, so as to achieve innovation and development in the ever-changing financial field.
