China’s First! TEDA Joins This Initiative by the World Economic Forum
On June 28th, during a public event at the Tianjin Summer Davos Forum, Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA) officially joined the World Economic Forum’s Industry Cluster Transition to Net Zero Initiative, becoming the first national-level development zone and comprehensive industrial park in China to join the initiative. The Industry Cluster Transition to Net Zero Initiative was launched by the World Economic Forum at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference with the aim of promoting the transition to net-zero emissions in major industrial clusters worldwide. The initiative plans to invite outstanding industry clusters from around the globe to make commitments to net-zero transition on the forum's platform and stimulate and facilitate the transition of other industry clusters through sharing best practices and international cooperation. As of January 2023, a total of 17 industry clusters worldwide have joined the initiative.
TEDA has always adhered to the concept of sustainable development and is one of China’s earliest three eco-friendly industrial parks as recognized by MEP, MOST and MOFCOM. It is also one of China’s earliest pilot zones for circular economy, consistently leading the nation’s industrial parks in green and low-carbon development. Up to now, TEDA has a cumulative total of 22 national-level green factories, 12 green supply chain management enterprises, and 2 green design product companies. There are 55 green factories in Tianjin, which have initially achieved the demonstration effect of regional green manufacturing aggregation, continuously promoting the transformation of industries towards low-carbon development.
