Professor Michael Mainelli: FCCA FCSI(Hon) FBCS, Chairman, Z/Yen Group, is a qualified accountant, securities professional, computer specialist, and management consultant, who has built and deployed AI systems since the late 1970s. Michael was educated at Harvard University and Trinity College Dublin and gained his PhD at the London School of Economics where he was also a Visiting Professor of Innovation & IT. Michael is Emeritus Professor, Fellow, & Trustee at Gresham College where he created the Long Finance initiative asking “when would we know our financial system is working?” His third book, The Price Of Fish: A New Approach To Wicked Economics And Better Decisions, won the Independent Publisher Book Awards Finance, Investment & Economics Gold Prize. Michael is an Alderman and was a Sheriff of the City of London 2019-2021.

George Littlejohn qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC in London before becoming a journalist with The Economist, specialising in financial and economic matters. He is now senior adviser at the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, a global professional body, having conducted advisory work amongst investment management firms across Europe, the Middle East and Asia over the past three decades. He is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh, with a masters in development economics, and the author of several works on risk management in finance, and most recently “Financing the sustainable energy transition,” part of “The geopolitics of the global energy transition” series published by Springer in 2020.
He was from 1996 – 2006 a trustee of Merlin, a UK humanitarian charity which is now part of Save the Children; and chairman of the trustees of Hay2Timbuktu from 2009-2013, now a patron. From 2004-2006, he was senior adviser to the Festival of Muslim Cultures 2006 (Patron: HRH The Prince of Wales). He is also a trustee and vice-chair of Black Mountains College in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. He was born in 1952 in Lanark, in Scotland, and is married with two sons.
