Lingang Special Area of Shanghai Free Trade Zone signs over 6 bn yuan contracts with leading shipping companies
Lingang Special Area of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone has signed contracts with a consortium of leading shipping service companies.
The 16 shipping service projects involve a total investment exceeding 6 billion yuan, covering intelligent shipping, eco-friendly logistics, and digital infrastructure, ShanghaiEye reported.
One of the companies that signed the agreement is a digital shipping company that offers comprehensive support for big data and artificial intelligence tools to enhance digital shipping operations. The company's services focus on ensuring safety within the shipping industry chain, promoting green and low-carbon practices, and facilitating a seamless supply chain.
Another company that signed the agreement is the world's largest container shipping company. The company is investing over 1 billion yuan in Lingang to construct an omni-channel intelligent green logistics flagship warehouse and provide end-to-end integrated logistics solutions.
In addition, China's first international shipping public service platform was launched in the Lingang Special Area on Sunday. The platform offers five integrated service functions: enterprise registration, policy consultation, public services, financial services, and legal services.
"The shipping industry is facing changes, which may mean that the opportunity of Lingang New Area has arrived. The new area can better connect with and even lead the formulation of international rules through green and digital shipping services."
