♦ The Business Survey Index (BSI) on business conditions in the manufacturing sector for August 2023 was 67, down 5 points from the previous month, but that for the outlook for the following month remained unchanged at 69.
※ After seasonal adjustment, the BSI for August 2023 was 66, down 6 points from July 2023, and that for the outlook for the following month also fell by 4 points to 67.
♦ In the non-manufacturing sector, the BSI on business conditions for August 2023 was 75, down 1 point from the previous month, but that for the outlook for the following month remained unchanged at 76.
※ After seasonal adjustment, the BSI for August 2023 was 74, down 2 points from July 2023, and that for the outlook for the following month also fell by 1 point to 76.
♦ The Economic Sentiment Index (ESI)－a composite of the BSI and the CSI (Consumer Survey Index)－ for August 2023 was 94.0, down 0.1 point from July 2023.
