TEDA Releases China's First Online Homestay Industry Compliance Guidelines
Recently, the “Internet + Homestay” Compliance Management Guidelines for TEDA (hereinafter referred to as the Guidelines) have been officially released. This marks the first compliance guidelines in China specifically targeting the online homestay industry. It is also the first set of compliance requirements proposed by TEDA from a regulatory perspective for the new economy and new formats. The Guidelines cover seven major aspects, including business qualifications, information collection, file management, advertising and promotion, price order, credit management, and consumer rights protection. Not only do they clarify the concepts of operators of online homestay platforms and operators, but they also define the industry classifications, such as short-term rental properties and online booking services. The guidelines address consumer concerns about price fraud, false advertising, and advance compensation in the homestay industry. This effectively fills the regulatory gaps of the industry in China.
TEDA is the region in China with the highest concentration of homestay business headquarters, hosting leading companies such as Meituan Homestay and Tujia. It has formed a billion-dollar-level sub-industry cluster. The release of the Guidelines in TEDA aims to ensure that homestay businesses have clear regulations to follow and promote the orderly development of the homestay industry. This move further drives a healthy industry environment and sparks new vitality in regional economic and social development.
