Russian companies can now benefit from a server-based operating system by Sber
State-owned organizations, corporations, and other Russian companies will be able to build high-capacity software and hardware complexes powered by a resilient Russia-made server-based operating system Platform V SberLinux OS Server. This solution was included in the Russian Software Register, complies with the requirements of the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation on product manufacturing, distribution, and development, and can be distributed across Russia.
Platform V SberLinux OS Server is intended for managing x86 and x64 corporate servers and for creating an efficient and safe environment to handle workloads and operating tasks: server applications, databases, distributed computations, containerization and virtualization, artificial intelligence, and other tasks.
Platform V SberLinux OS Server replaces commonly used foreign corporate-level server OS based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) that withdrew from the Russian market. The packet manager, embedded utilities, tools, and core and library binary compatibility facilitate seamless migrations from foreign solutions with zero efficiency or resilience losses in automated systems. This OS contains tested tools for infrastructure administration, management, and building. Transition to Platform V SberLinux OS Server does not require any special re-training of employees who know how to work with foreign server-based OS.
Andrey Belevtsev, senior vice president, CTO, head of Technology, Sberbank:
From now on, Russian companies will be equipped with a fully Russia-made product in line with all security, resilience, and performance requirements. Our OS’ advantage is seamless migration from foreign solutions and compatibility with servers from the Single Register of Russian Radio and Electronic Products and Russia-Made Software, including more than 70 products on the digital cloud-based Platform V and popular open-source solutions.
Maxim Tyatyushev, CEO, SberTech:
In software and hardware import substitutions, companies should not only crucially focus on servers’ technical specifications but also approach choosing a server-based operating system very thoughtfully. We created Platform V SberLinux OS Server bearing in mind the needs of large businesses to host highly loaded, highly critical distributed systems on easily maintainable x86 and x64 servers grounded in Sber’s requirements, as millions of clients use Sber’s services on a daily basis.
