IFF 2023 annual meeting opens in Nansha
The International Finance Forum (IFF) 20th Anniversary and Annual Meeting opened in Nansha district, Guangzhou on Oct 28, inviting political leaders, financial and business executives, and prominent academics from over 50 countries and regions to engage in dialogue on major economic, financial, trade issues.
Several prominent figures addressed attendees at the opening ceremony, including Zhou Xiaochuan, IFF Co-Chair and former director of the People's Bank of China; Wang Weizhong, governor of Guangdong province; Lee Ka Chiu, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Han Seung-soo, IFF Co-Chair.
In his opening remarks, Zhou said, "Countries should strengthen cooperation to solve economic challenges. Instead of building barriers, decoupling, and economic coercion, we should defend multilateralism and build an open global economy."
Wang said, "Guangdong will continue to develop the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and promote high-level opening-up."
Themed "New Capital, New Value, New World: Revitalization & Cooperation in a Fragmenting Global Economy," the three-day event features more than 30 events, including the opening ceremony, academic summits, special dialogues, and themed parallel forums.
Established in 2003 by a group of 20 member countries and several major international organizations, the IFF has since become a premium platform for financial dialogues, communications and cooperation. Thanks to its success and global influence, the IFF has been designated as the F20 (Finance 20) by global political and financial leaders.
