LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE GROUP CELEBRATES THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE INVESTMENT ASSOCIATION'S I2020 INITIATIVE
Investment20/20, the Investment Association's talent solution was founded 10 years ago by leaders from the investment management industry to provide an alternative and accessible entry point for a broader talent pool. The programme developed out of a sector wide requirement for an agile solution to drive forward equity, diversity and inclusion in early careers recruitment, and to build a community which supports those individuals who join the industry. Investment20/20 now lays claim to over 60 member firms, who have supported more than 2,500 young people to start their professional careers in investment management. A critical component of Investment20/20 is its successful outreach programme which connects with a pipeline of future talent in schools, colleges and universities.
Karis Stander, Managing Director for Investment20/20 and director of culture, talent and inclusion at The Investment Association, said “It gives me great pleasure to celebrate this milestone event for our industry at the London Stock Exchange, alongside Investment20/20 alumni, current trainees and industry leaders. By opening the market this morning, we are reminded that a steady stream of broader talent into the investment management industry, helps us better represent our customers and strengthens our firms by bringing in fresh perspectives, but it is also the right thing to do. That talent first needs to be attracted into our industry, and then fully supported to develop and thrive, which is why I am delighted to mark the ten-year anniversary as a testament to the success of Investment20/20.”
Jane Ivinson, Investment20/20 Chair, deputy general counsel and chief legal officer, Bank of New York Mellon Investment Management, said “I'm extremely proud to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of Investment20/20. Through this initiative we have been able to grow and nurture a more diverse pool of talent and have attracted candidates who may not have otherwise considered a career within our industry. Critically, this brings new perspectives and insights that we incorporate into our work, ultimately making our organisations more inclusive, and representative of society at large.”
