Yangshan bonded zone ranks 6th in nation, leads global index
The Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Area – in the Lin-gang Special Area in East China's Shanghai – has climbed to 6th place in the national rankings of the 2022 annual performance evaluation of special regulatory areas, as announced by the General Administration of Customs.
In addition to its national ranking, Yangshan Port was recognized as the most efficient port among 348 container ports worldwide in the Global Container Port Performance Index released by the World Bank Group earlier this year.
The bonded zone has reportedly demonstrated exceptional performances in core indicators such as efficiencies of scale and innovative formats, placing it among the top performers nationwide.
The zone has achieved significant milestones in its development. International shipping companies like Maersk and Orient Overseas (International) Limited have been granted approval for coastal feeder services, leading to a pronounced increase in volumes and facilitating the transshipment of over 100,000 standard containers internationally.
What's more, Yangshan Port's connectivity to over 200 major ports worldwide and its annual docking of tens of thousands of vessels are widely said to have contributed to the growth of the ship supply industry.
Despite facing a deficiency in shipping services, the Lin-gang Special Area is actively promoting green shipping initiatives, including bonded LNG refueling. It's established a bonded ship supply platform, enabling normalized ship supply transactions.
