National Development and Reform Commission: Hengqin plan ensures its purpose to serve Macao
The "Hengqin Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone Master Development Plan" aims to guide the work in Hengqin towards its original intention of serving Macau, according to Guo Lanfeng, a member of the Leading Party Members Group of the National Development and Reform Commission.
The statement was made during a State Council Information Office press conference which introduced the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and was attended by officials from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, including André Cheong, the Region's Secretary for Administration and Justice.
Guo Lanfeng, a member of the Leading Party Members Group of the National Development and Reform Commission, introduced four documents on the construction of the Greater Bay Area recently issued by the Central Government. Among them, is the "Hengqin Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone Master Development Plan" which clarifies several targets, including employment and the number of Macau residents living in Hengqin, as well as the number of Macau-funded enterprises operating in Hengqin and their added value. The plan also aims to guide the work in Hengqin towards its original intention of serving Macau.
The "Three-Year Action Plan for Building an International First-class Business Environment in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area" sets out measures to create a first-class business environment from the "four major environments" of the market, rule of law, government affairs and openness. At the same time, it proposes specific measures to improve the convenience of cross-border customs clearance, promote financial market integration and make it easier for Hong Kong and Macau residents to develop and live in Guangdong.
As a next step, the National Development and Reform Commission will work with relevant departments and Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau to implement the "Action Plan", promptly coordinate and resolve difficulties in the implementation process, and ensure that the measures are implemented early and achieve effective results.
