Financial innovation conference held in SW China's Chengdu
A financial innovation conference was held in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, on Friday, with the aim of accelerating the building of a financial center in the country's western region.
A thousand years ago, the world's earliest banknote -- Jiaozi -- was unveiled in Chengdu. Themed "Jiaozi culture and fintech, innovative exploration of western financial center construction," the Chengdu Jiaozi Financial Conference was held at the Jiaozi Financial Museum.
The conference was guided by Xinhua News Agency. During this event, Xinhua Silk Road, a national Belt and Road information service provider under the news agency, launched its west China branch in Chengdu.
In December 2021, the People's Bank of China and other departments announced a plan to build a financial center in the Chengdu-Chongqing region. This financial center will be completed by 2025, according to the plan.
In recent years, Chengdu and Chongqing have actively promoted the integration of financial infrastructure, leading to the gradual implementation of numerous financial initiatives, thereby attracting relevant talents. Currently, Chengdu is home to over 2,800 intermediary organizations and financial institutions.
The economic development of the Chengdu-Chongqing region is brimming with vitality, laying a solid foundation for building a western financial center, said Tu Guangshao, chairman of the executive council of Shanghai Finance Institute.
According to research findings released by China Development Institute at the conference, Chengdu ranks first in the central and western regions on the China Innovator and Entrepreneur Finance Index.
