Yangshan Free Trade Zone expansion area passes inspection
The expansion area of the Yangshan Free Trade Zone – located in the Lin-gang Special Area, in East China's Shanghai – passed its acceptance inspection on April 1.
Approved by the State Council's General Office in April 2023, the zone proactively undertook land allocations, urban planning and industrial development planning – efficiently completing infrastructure construction over the course of a year.
The expansion covers the southern area of Pudong airport and the Luchao port area.
That area of Pudong airport will primarily support the development of domestically produced large aircraft. This will facilitate the clustering of various aviation-related industries such as manufacturing, maintenance, training, finance and logistics.
Projects that have been signed include the China National Building Materials Group's Leonardo aviation composite materials production facility, China Eastern Airlines' maintenance and modification center and Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services' maintenance and modification base.
Meanwhile initiatives – including General Electric's aviation engine bonded maintenance and China Sky-wings' aviation bonded display training facilities – are now operational.
The Luchao port area will focus on innovative formats – such as bonded maintenance and inspections, bonded processing and manufacturing, bonded R&D designs, bonded displays and trading and cross-border e-commerce.
Projects such as the JSR photoresist production facility, the Maersk logistics center and Yangshan international bonded trading center are already making progress.
