Hengqin 2024 Global Investment Promotion Conference kicks off with new level of scale and reach
The Hengqin 2024 Global Investment Promotion Conference, organized by the Executive Committee of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and hosted by the Economic Development Bureau of the Cooperation Zone, kicked off on May 26.
The conference aimed to introduce Hengqin's business environment and preferential policies to a global audience, highlighting new opportunities and developments brought by the closed-loop operation and the implementation of the tax policy.
Over 1,000 domestic and international investors attended, including representatives from officials in Macao, Guangdong Province, foreign consulates in Hong Kong and Macao, Macao business associations, and key enterprises worldwide.
This year, the investment promotion conference continues the tradition of the "Hengqin Ambassador (横琴推荐官)" awarding ceremony. This honorary title is given to distinguished individuals who promote Hengqin's development and opportunities. Typically influential figures from various industries, academia, and the community, these ambassadors will share insights, highlight the region's advantages, and help attract investment and talent to Hengqin.
As one of the newly appointed "Hengqin Ambassadors," Dr. Aglaia Kong (江朝晖), the founder and CEO&CTO of Guangdong LeapFive Technology Co., Ltd, highlighted the benefits of Hengqin's business environment, including tax incentives, talent policies, and research resources, thanks to the island's proximity to Macao and the collaboration among industries and academia.
Colin James, the managing director of Airbus Helicopters in China, also joined this event and gave a talk about the company's investment plans in Hengqin as well as its development plan in Guangdong. He revealed that Airbus Helicopters' China headquarters is set to be established in Hengqin in September this year, a project signed in 2021.
"Like many companies, Airbus is always looking to have a stable environment in terms of tariffs, taxation, and development potential for the employees. So Hengqin, with its excellent policies for business and for employees, is a very good place for us to be a resident," he added.
Meanwhile, the conference also includes various industry forums, facilitating dialogue and collaboration among industry representatives. Multiple sub-forums were held on the 27th, focusing on integrated circuits, traditional Chinese medicine, branded industries, modern finance, cultural tourism, and cross-border e-commerce, allowing in-depth discussions on industry development.
