Sber's online transactions accounted for 10%, with J.P. Morgan Payments and Adyen, companies focused on online payments, securing the first two spots.
Dmitry Malykh, senior vice president, head of B2C Transaction Banking, Sberbank:
For eight years, since 2016, Sber has consistently ranked on top with a significant gap separating it from its closest competitors in terms of the number of processed transactions. This once again proves that we have high quality services and that customer care and our focus on human-centeredness remain an unchanging top priority for Sber. We continue to develop the SberPay family, and its services are gaining popularity among Russians. We pay special attention to the use of artificial intelligence, innovation and continuous improvement of the customer experience.
Sber is the absolute leader in the market for merchant acquirers processing national payment operators' cards. Interestingly enough, over one-third of all card transactions in Europe are being handled by national operators, which, besides MIR cards, include Bancontact, Troy, and more. The number of national card transactions surged by 31% in 2023, while Visa and Mastercard only saw their transactions up by 9%.
