OP expands mobile payment services
OP's customers now have access to Samsung Pay and Garmin Pay services.
The popularity of mobile payments is on the rise and nearly half of card customers aged 18–25 already use mobile payment services.
The popular mobile payment apps Garmin Pay and Samsung Pay are now available for OP cards. These launches will expand OP's options for mobile payments and will improve customer satisfaction.
"Our customers have hoped for the option of Samsung Pay and Garmin Pay. It's great that we can fulfil these wishes and can expand OP's varied mobile payment services," says Teemu Korte, Business Manager, Cards and Consumer Finance at OP.
“We are excited to provide Garmin and OP customers with another way to pay while they are on the go. Having the ability to easily pay for purchases, without the need for a phone or wallet, is a feature that we are happy to bring to users who live an active lifestyle”, says Jan-Åke Arenäs, Managing Director for Garmin in the Nordics.
“We are very happy to welcome OP to Samsung Pay! Through our partnership we can offer secure payments by just tapping your smartphone or watch. Perfect for those summer days when you have left our wallet at home!”, says Oscar Nöjd, Head Sales Innovation for Samsung Electronics Nordic.
With mobile payment apps your card is on hand wherever you are. You can also pay for purchases of more than 50 euros handily and securely with a smartwatch or phone, without needing to enter a PIN.
All payment cards for personal customers issued by OP can be added to new mobile wallets. To use the new services the customer only needs a compatible device, a valid physical OP card and an OP user ID.
Mobile payment is an increasingly popular choice
Mobile payment with a smartphone or smartwatch is steadily growing in popularity, especially among card customers aged 18–25, of whom nearly half already use mobile payment services.
"Mobile payment continues to be increasingly popular among OP's customers and already accounts for as much as 17 per cent of all card payments ," says Korte.
Mobile payment can be used in nearly all stores that offer contactless payment, including grocery stores, restaurants, petrol stations and many online stores.
"In addition to its ease of use, a key advantage of mobile payment is security. Your payment card's details are never disclosed to others when you pay and you won’t need to cover the PIN as you never need to enter your card's PIN," says Korte.
