The National Bureau for Revenue carries out more than 800 inspection visits during the first half of this year
National Bureau for Revenue (NBR) affirmed its constant keenness to ensure compliance with all regulations and legislation to ensure the proper application of value-added and selectivity, including the digital stamp system, and based on that, the National Bureau for Revenue (NBR) carried out 814 inspection visits in local markets in various governorates of the Kingdom of Bahrain during the first half of 2024, in order to control and control markets by providing the highest levels of protection of consumers' rights and combating evasion of value added and selectivity, in addition to promoting the necessary awareness of the mechanisms to be followed, and achieving the maximum Stages of compliance.
The Authority pointed out that the effective control of the markets contributed to the detection of some establishments violating the laws in force regarding value-added and selectivity, as 116 violations were monitored that necessitated the imposition of administrative fines, which included non-compliance with the conditions and procedures for issuing value-added invoices, displaying the prices of goods or services that do not include value-added, and not displaying the value-added certificate in a visible place, in addition to monitoring violations of non-compliance with the digital stamp system.
Some cases were also monitored that may be considered suspicions of evasion of value added or selectivity, and for which the Authority is taking legal action, which may be punished by imprisonment for a period of five years and a fine equivalent to three times the evaded value added in accordance with the value-added law, imprisonment for a period of one year and a fine equivalent to double the evasive selectivity.
