Kirill Menshov: Sber plans to fully replace foreign DBMS on critical infrastructure by the end of 2024 with domestic solutions
As part of import substitution, by the end of 2024, Sber plans to fully complete the transition of its automated systems on critical information infrastructure from foreign DBMS to its proprietary solution, Platform V Pangolin.
The Platform V Pangolin relational DBMS is part of SberTech's Platform V digital cloud platform. The solution ensures high performance of Sber's automated systems. The product is based on PostgreSQL, one of the most popular DBMSs. Platform V Pangolin contains a number of important improvements in performance, speed, security, availability, and reliability, which make it a perfect fit for corporate use. Since 2020, Platform V Pangolin has been the core DBMS at Sber.
Kirill Menshov, senior vice president, head of Technology, Sberbank:
Our platform's products have already successfully replaced many Western vendors' solutions at Sber. Not only are our products on par with the foreign ones in terms of functionality, but they even surpass them in certain features. For instance, Platform V Pangolin DMBS is fully compliant with Sber's higher performance and security requirements, as it guarantees secure storage and quick processing of large data volumes in the company's highly loaded systems.
Platform V Pangolin is included in the Russian Software Register and is fully suitable for import substitution tasks. Since 2021, the product has been available for the external market and used in large Russian companies. Today, more than 80,000 installations of Platform V Pangolin are successfully operated as part of services and applications of different scales and criticalities.
