OP Financial Group is Finland's most attractive employer in the business sector
Universum's annual survey ranks the employers considered most attractive by professionals and students in various sectors in Finland. This year, business sector professionals viewed OP Financial Group as Finland's most attractive employer. Those in IT gave it fourth place.
OP Financial Group has been doing extremely well in Universum's survey for several years. The latest survey ranked Finland's best places to work among professionals. OP Financial Group's results were its best ever in all categories of the survey.
OP Financial Group has now exchanged its business-sector ‘silver medal’ of 2023 for ‘gold’ in 2024. In addition, its ranking among IT professionals improved from seventh to fourth. OP Financial Group also shot up the rankings in the humanities, from 24th to 12th place in just one year.
“I view the results as a reflection of the long-term work we've done at OP Financial Group. One of our strategic priorities over the years has been highly skilled, motivated and satisfied personnel. We have systematically created a business culture that empowers our employees on the basis of self-managed teams, with the aim of bringing out the best in everyone and enabling them to learn new things. We've also encouraged our staff to communicate openly about their work and everyday issues,” says Chief People and Culture Officer, Hannakaisa Länsisalmi.
OP Financial Group has also stepped up its focus on diversity. Varied backgrounds, in terms of education and work experience, are highly valued as an organisational success factor.
“Finnish companies and society still have much to do in enhancing diversity. A key aspect of this is raising awareness of workplace diversity and recruiting employees from a range of backgrounds. In addition, due to the financial sector’s needs and opportunities across skill areas, it must attract talent in multiple sectors. This makes me particularly glad that our research results have improved so dramatically in IT and the Humanities,” says Hannakaisa.
The Universum survey is conducted twice a year. One survey focuses on professionals in various sectors and the other on students in higher education. Universum publishes similar survey results in 20 countries.
In Finland, a total of 8,605 professionals responded to the survey in October–June.
