Shanghai Stock Exchange and Qatar Stock Exchange Forge Strategic Partnership
The Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE), marking a new chapter in bilateral capital market cooperation between China and Qatar.
Under the agreement, both exchanges will explore joint initiatives in exchange-traded fund (ETF) products, data sharing, and index product development. In addition, the MoU highlights opportunities to collaborate on sustainable finance, aligning with global trends toward responsible and innovative financial solutions.
QSE emphasized that the partnership will allow it to integrate business expertise with the SSE, fostering capital market innovation and growth. By leveraging this collaboration, QSE aims to introduce new services and products that cater to the evolving needs of both domestic and international investors while delivering value to listed companies.
The SSE underscored its commitment to enhancing global market connectivity, particularly in the Middle East, a region of growing importance for international financial integration. Following China's Belt and Road Initiative, Qatar has played a pivotal role, becoming the first Middle Eastern country to establish an RMB clearing center in 2015.
Looking ahead, the SSE, under the guidance of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), will continue advancing market reforms through open collaboration. This includes expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms and broadening partnerships to drive high-quality, institutional-level financial integration.
This agreement follows the SSE's ongoing global connectivity initiatives. Notably, earlier this month, the SSE, Deutsche Börse Group, and China Europe International Exchange signed an MoU to enhance collaboration on depository receipts under the Stock Connect framework.
The SSE's proactive efforts underscore China's commitment to fostering innovation, connectivity, and sustainable growth across global capital markets.
