Investors can now buy DFAs for fuel at Sber's Digital Asset Platform
DFA purchase orders for diesel fuel and gas are accepted until February 21, 2025
Sber has enabled its clients to invest in diesel fuel and gas[1] in the form of DFAs. DFA quotes are determined through trading at the Saint Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange (SPIMEX).
One DFA’s price is linked to the cost of 1/10 of a metric ton of fuel, which lowers the entry threshold for investors, and they can prematurely dispose of their DFAs, irrespective of their liquidity on the stock exchange1.
DFAs are issued for five months; purchase orders can be filed at Sber's platform until February 21, 2025. These products are available to qualified investors.
Alexander Vedyakhin, first deputy chairman of the Executive Board, Sberbank:
Our Digital Asset Platform continues to evolve. We offer investors various financial instruments in DFA format. The current issue is a completely new experience: for the first time, the indexed DFAs are linked to the cost of oil products on the Russian market. In general, digital assets are an excellent and promising tool for diversifying investment portfolios. I think that this issue will be another step in the development of the DFA market in Russia.
Igor Artemyev, president, SPIMEX:
Placed DFAs are based on SPIMEX data for the most liquid exchange-traded commodities. It is important for the exchange to have both the quality and reliability of the data and the modern methods of delivering price and statistical information that we provide through the SPX platform. We are pleased that our data is of high value and relevance to the market and allows us to implement advanced projects.
DFAs are financial instruments in digital form. Their issuance, accounting, and circulation are carried out in an information system based on a distributed ledger (blockchain technology), which guarantees the immutability of data. A statement on risks associated with DFA transactions is available on Sberbank's website. Since March 17, 2022, Sber has been included by the Bank of Russia in the register of information system operators that issue digital financial assets.
[1]The name of the specific exchange-traded commodity is contained in the Decision on Issuance. In accordance with the Decision on Issuance, investors may dispose of the DFA before maturity by agreement with the issuer.
