Morocco, KfW Sign €100 Million Agreement to Finance Climate Policy Support Program
The German Development Bank (KfW) and Morocco have signed a €100 million agreement to finance Morocco's Climate Policy Support Program. The program aims to support Morocco's measures to combat climate change and its efforts to transition to a low-carbon economy. The agreement was signed by Morocco's Budget Minister Fouzi Lekjaa and KfW's Regional Manager Jan Schilling.
In addition, KfW announced a €50 million loan to Morocco's Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) to strengthen Morocco's water supply infrastructure and support climate-resilient drinking water programs to ensure water security in several regions.
In the Climate Policy Support Program, Morocco pays special attention to water management, including desalination and water conservation. Morocco is committed to developing future energy, which plays an increasingly important role in combating climate change and promoting the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Robert Dölger, German Ambassador to Morocco, stressed that the signing of this agreement symbolizes the strong cooperation between the two countries based on mutual trust and a common agenda to address major challenges. He called for immediate action to combat climate change as it is a priority for the future
Through these cooperation and funding initiatives, Morocco and Germany are strengthening their collaboration in the areas of climate action and sustainable development to achieve common environmental and economic goals.
