Deutsche Bank to Discontinue DSL Bank Brand
Deutsche Bank has announced that it will discontinue the DSL Bank brand, ceasing its offerings of construction financing and consumer loans under this name. Instead, new real estate loans will be integrated into the Deutsche Bank and BHW brands, while consumer loans will be handled by Deutsche Bank, Postbank, and Norisbank moving forward.
The decision does not involve any immediate plans to close physical locations, as clarified by a Deutsche Bank spokesperson. The company is also in discussions with labor representatives regarding potential impacts on jobs at DSL Bank, although it remains unclear how many positions may be affected.
DSL Bank, previously known as Deutsche Siedlungs- und Landesrentenbank, was acquired by Deutsche Bank as part of its Postbank acquisition. The move to phase out the DSL Bank brand is part of Deutsche Bank's efforts to streamline operations and reduce costs within its private customer segment.
In addition, the bank will standardize processes for smaller-scale services such as modernization loans. The decision comes after DSL Bank's construction loans were sold through partner platforms, which led to higher capital requirements and regulatory limitations that hindered cross-selling opportunities for other financial products to DSL Bank customers.
