PowerChina Facilitates UAE Railway Construction, Etihad Freight Station Project Successfully Handed Over
The major freight stations involved are:
ADP Station / DIC Station / KPO Station / ICAD Station / RUWAIS Station / GHWEIFAT Station
These six stations will serve as vital logistics hubs, enabling efficient connectivity between emirates, optimizing domestic resource allocation, and elevating the UAE’s role in the global supply chain.
The construction of the Khalifa Port Cross-Sea Railway Bridge posed one of the most significant challenges during the project. As the only cross-sea structure in the freight network and the UAE’s first cross-sea railway bridge, it demanded exceptional technical expertise.
Facing obstacles such as delayed site handovers, complex approvals, and harsh construction conditions, the project team upheld high-standard management, internal collaboration, and proactive coordination. By optimizing workflows while ensuring quality and safety, the bridge was completed 25 days ahead of the original 77-day schedule. This achievement marked PowerChina’s "zero breakthrough" in ballastless track construction in the UAE and overseas markets, showcasing Chinese infrastructure efficiency and technical prowess.
Beyond technical milestones, PowerChina actively fulfilled corporate social responsibilities to support local economic and social development:
Boosting Local Employment
During peak construction, PowerChina prioritized hiring local workers, creating job opportunities and alleviating regional employment pressures.
Promoting Cultural Exchange
Aligned with the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, foreign employees participated in the "My Story with the Belt and Road" short video contest organized by the Chinese Consulate in Dubai, sharing PowerChina’s contributions and fostering cross-cultural ties.
Supporting Philanthropy
The project team consistently engaged in charity initiatives, responding to calls from the Chinese Embassy and Consulate in the UAE, enhancing community harmony, and reflecting the accountability of Chinese enterprises.
The successful handover of the Etihad Rail Freight Station project not only marks PowerChina’s breakthrough in the UAE’s rail transit market but also provides valuable experience for Chinese enterprises in overseas infrastructure development. As a key participant in the Belt and Road Initiative, PowerChina is driving international collaboration, strengthening global connectivity, and elevating infrastructure standards in partner countries.
Moving forward, PowerChina will continue to expand its expertise in global rail transit, energy, and infrastructure sectors, contributing "Chinese wisdom" and "Chinese solutions" to worldwide infrastructure advancement through engineering and international management practices.
