Speakers:
Dr. Yi-Cheng Kao is the President of the Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance. He holds a Ph.D. in International Business from National Taiwan University (NTU) and has served as Associate Professor of Economics at Fu Jen Catholic University and Adjunct Associate Professor at NTU. His tenure at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) included significant contributions to institutional research, development, and accreditation through various administrative roles. Dr. Kao has been recognized for his dedication to education and research, receiving honors such as the Outstanding Mentor Award from CYCU and the Outstanding Teaching Award from NTU. His research has been published in academic journals such as Games and Economic Behavior, Journal of Human Capital, and Economics Letters. His advisory work with the Executive Yuan’s Economic Development Committee reflects his commitment to fostering fiscal stability, inclusive finance, and sustainable growth, with a focus on supporting SMEs and promoting equitable economic development.
Danny Tang is the Chief Digital Officer of E.SUN Bank, a Taipei-based large financial institution with over 120 billion dollars in assets. As CDO, Danny is responsible for delivering a great digital experience for E.SUN’s 8 million customers as well as driving digital transformation for the 9000-employee organization. His leadership helped propel E.SUN into an elite regional bank. evidenced by many industry recognitions, including the Asia-Pacific Winner of the prestigious Innovations in Digital Banking Award by The Banker in 2024. Prior to returning from the U.S. to join E.SUN Bank in 2021, Danny spent 20 years in IBM where he had a distinguished career in various capacities, including Global Solutions Leader of Banking Industry. Danny was also a Member of the IBM Industry Academy as well as Board Member of IT Architect profession. While at IBM, Danny travelled extensively and advised banks from over 50 countries. Danny has an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA and a BA in Business Administration from National Taiwan University. He enjoys public speaking in both English and Chinese. Dr. Liu Pei-Wen is the executive vice president and chief information security officer of First Commercial Bank, in charge of Information technology, digital technology security, credit card and financial technology business. During his term as EVP,he established the Digital Technology Security Division, the first dedicated unit to digital technology security among all Taiwanese banks. In order to implement the digital transformation strategy, a cross-departments team is formed to create a brand new digital brand-iLEO by using design thinking and agile development.
Before join FCB, he possesses 20-year experience in IT industry. In addition to the deputy director of Cybersecurity Technology Institute of III (Institute for Information Industry), he is also the director of National Center for Cyber Security Technology to promote cyber security protection for government and critical infrastructure in a long time.
Brenda Hu is Director-General in Department of Development and Innovation, Financial Supervisory Commission. The mission of this newly established department is to accelerate the development of Taiwan's financial market based on the existing financial stability, achieving the goal of a financial market that advances both "safety" and "development." With over 25 years at the FSC, Ms. Hu was appointed as the first head of the department and is currently spearheading Taiwan’s FinTech and sustainability agenda, including green and transition finance, fintech development roadmaps, regulatory sandbox, and overall financial market development projects. Before the role, she served in the Securities and Futures Bureau and the Banking Bureau. Her deeds included rolling out the Corporate Governance Blueprint, ESG reporting and futures trust funds. She was also in charge of reviewing and giving advices on fund-raising cases submitted by listed companies for effective registration, following up their financial and operational status, and safeguarding market integrity and shareholder rights.
