The initiative aims to strengthen financial awareness and cognitive resilience among elderly, so they are more aware of financial threats. Older people are often targeted by scammers due to their trust in others and unfamiliarity with technology. As a result, they are vulnerable to various forms of fraud, including impersonation by someone they know or trust who tricks them into transferring money, individuals posing as officials, fraudulent messages sent via mobile phones, and sophisticated online scams involving artificial intelligence (AI) technology. These scams often result in the tragic loss of lifelong savings. In addition to the awareness session, members of the Elderly Club participated in exercise activities that are designed to prevent falls and dementia, led by a team of physical therapists from the Public Health Service Center 23 Si Phraya. Additional activities included Alzheimer’s-prevention board games conducted by students from Wat Mahapruttaram Girls' School, and a birthday celebration for members born in August. Seventy Elderly Club members took part in the activities held at the Bang Rak Metropolitan Police Station.
As a "trusted partner and reliable close friend", Bangkok Bank is committed to promoting financial knowledge and discipline for customers and the public of all ages and genders, including vulnerable groups such as the visually impaired, the elderly, and low-income earners, who are at risk of over-indebtedness. This initiative is part of the "Fin Lit for the Blind" project, the "Unlock Debt, Retire Happy" project, and the "Happy Retirement" project. These projects enable target groups to manage their debts, plan their finances, and secure their future. They are also aware of fraudulent tactics, financial threats, and cyber threats, mitigate the risk of fraud, and this will enable them to conduct financial transactions safely.
