Established in January 2020, the ADB Ventures Financing Partnership Facility (ADB Ventures) invests in early-stage companies with technology-enabled solutions that have the potential to scale and deliver climate and development impact in emerging Asia.

ADB Ventures is a nonsovereign platform, with ADB accepting and administering financial contributions to trust funds and technical assistance from multiple funding sources, including bilateral partners, multilateral organizations, and the private sector. Partners' contributions to this financing facility may be in the form of returnable capital and/or grants.

ADB Ventures was set up to become a leading impact technology investment platform in Asia and the Pacific that crowds in risk capital for early-stage companies. By doing so, it unlocks the potential for private sector capital and technological know-how to contribute toward attaining climate and development Sustainable Development Goals.

From 2020 to 2023, ADB Ventures has invested both equity and seed into early-stage companies with tech-enabled solutions predominantly focused on climate and gender. Over 50 investments have been made, including recent ones in Selex Motors, a Vietnamese developer of electric vehicles and battery-swapping solutions; Revfin, a financial technology company that provides loans for electric vehicles in India by leveraging data analytics and nontraditional underwriting methods; and Chickin, an Indonesia-based company creating market linkages in the poultry industry using data and technology.

Along with these investments, ADB Ventures' Seed program continued catalytic funding for early-stage companies to validate and deploy their solutions in developing Asia. The program also generates proprietary deal flows for ADB Ventures’ investment operation. In 2023, the Republic of Korea's Ministry of Economy and Finance pledged $3 million to expand the program to lower barriers to piloting new climate-focused solutions.
