The central banks of Pakistan and China have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on setting up yuan clearing arrangements in the South Asian country to increase the Chinese currency's usage for cross-border transactions.

According to the statistics of the State Administrationof Foreign Exchange (SAFE), the Chinese foreign exchange market (excluding foreign currency pairs, the same below) recorded total transactions of RMB 23.42 trillion (equivalent to USD3.36trillion) in September 2022.

UBS Futures announced that it had completed the first domestic commodity futures transaction of China Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor (QFII) and RMB Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor (RQFII), and became the first futures company to support QFII to participate in the domestic commodity futures market.

The value of transactions using the digital yuan has topped 100 billion yuan ($13.94 billion) with a variety of e-CNY application scenarios formed, the People's Bank of China (PBOC), the country's central bank, said on Wednesday.

Sani/Ikos Group (SIG), the leading luxury beach resort group in the Mediterranean, and GIC, global institutional investor, have entered into a strategic partnership under which GIC will become the leading shareholder alongside SIG’s management team. The transaction values the Sani/Ikos Group at €2.3 billion. The transaction is expected to close in the 4th quarter of 2022, subject to customary regulatory approval.

The business volume and transaction value of cross-border payments made in renminbi (RMB) maintained strong expansion levels in the second quarter of the year, a central bank report shows.

Thailand Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) has issued a warning in the state regarding the risks associated with DeFi transactions. The SEC says it is highly-likely that DeFi’s ecosystem, especially debit-taking and lending firms, doesn’t include necessary parameters in their mechanisms for ensuring the prevention of overleveraged collateral and rug-pull.

As of May 31, these pilot areas had made a total of around 264 million digital yuan transactions with a value of about 83 billion yuan ($12.31 billion).
