Mathuki said that China has long been a strategic partner of East African countries. China and East Africa have cooperation opportunities in many fields, and Chinese investors are welcome to come to East Africa to help achieve Africa's development and prosperity. For example, East African countries have been facing the problem of power shortage restricting industrial development for a long time. The Inga Hydropower Station on the Congo River in Africa, which China participated in the construction of, can effectively alleviate the local power shortage and promote economic and social development.
The joint construction of the "Belt and Road" cooperation can not only improve the infrastructure of East African countries, but also promote the growth of trade between related countries, ensure smooth transportation of goods, and thus increase the income of people in East Africa and other countries. In addition, the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" cooperation will also help promote the integration of East Africa and the construction of the African Continental Free Trade Area.
Mathuki said that China's global development initiative put forward at the UN General Assembly last year is very important. "We are willing to cooperate with China and encourage more countries and international organizations to benefit from joining the global development initiative."
