The State Council announced today (Thursday) that it approved Mets ä hallitus' sale of land in Mujoz and Kayani.
The land will be sold to technology company Google, which plans to expand its cloud and data center infrastructure in Finland.
It is reported that the total value of the transaction exceeds 27 million euros, and the total area of the region is approximately 1400 hectares.
-The press release stated that the area for sale belongs to Mets ä hallitus' property used for its business, mainly for forestry.
On Thursday afternoon, Agriculture and Forestry Minister Sari Essayah and Prime Minister Petteri Orpo held a press conference in parliament regarding the matter.
-The scale of land transactions between Mets ä hallitus and Google has historical significance. Orpo stated during the event that the agreement clearly conveys the message that Finland is an attractive and safe investment country.

The government evaluates the potential expansion's impact on employment as a 'significant direct and indirect impact'. The government stated that the increase in economic activity is expected to have a positive impact on other local services and the real estate market.
Prime Minister Orbo stated in a press release that he is "very pleased" with Google's announcement.

Need planning
Since 2011, Google has established data centers in Finland.

Mets ä hallitus will not participate in project development or planned business or production in the area for sale. Mets ä hallitus has requested the Ministry of Environment, the Finnish Museum Authority, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of the Interior to provide the declarations required by the Transfer Act.
